COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Jordan Rispress and freshman LaMar Bruton qualified for quarterfinal heats in the 400-meter hurdles and 400-meter dash Thursday afternoon at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla.

Rispress got the Buckeyes off to a good start in the day’s first event on the track, the first round of the 400 hurdles. The Columbus native ran a personal-best time of 51.37 seconds to finish third in his heat and ninth overall, automatically qualifying for the quarterfinals scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Quincy Downing of LSU finished the race in 50.54 seconds to record the best overall time of the day.

A personal-best time of 46.07 seconds advanced Bruton in the 400-meter run. A native of New Castle, Del., Bruton placed third in his heat and eighth overall. James Harris of Florida State ran the top time of the day in 45.58. The quarterfinals will take place Friday at a tentative time of 6:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, sophomore Blake Taneff and junior J.C. Murasky completed their seasons for the Buckeyes. Taneff placed 31st in the 10000-meter run and Murasky 43rd in the shot put.

Action at the East preliminaries continues Friday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with junior Julian Vann in the triple jump quarterfinal and sophomore Donovan Robertson in the 110-meter hurdle first round. Junior Timothy Faust looks to advance through the first round of the 200-meter dash at 8:25 p.m. while redshirt junior Jackson Neff runs in the 3,000-meter steeplechase quarterfinal at 8:50 p.m
