Brent Todys Named Big Ten Player of the Week


COLUMBUS, Ohio – Last week, Ohio State had a perfect 4-0 week in the win column and catcher Brent Todys nearly had a perfect week at the plate. The senior from Westerville, Ohio hit over .600 and was named the Big Ten Player of the Week.

Todys led the Buckeyes to four wins, including a weekend sweep at Northwestern. He went 11-for-18 (.611) with a double, two homers, nine RBI and seven runs scored on the week. He had an on-base percentage of .632 and in the three games vs. the Wildcats and he hit .667 (10-of-15) with nine RBI and two home runs

The teams played a doubleheader on Saturday and Todys had four hits in each game. He drove in seven runs with 2 HRs in game two. He closed the series with two more hits and an RBI in the 6-5 win on Sunday.

Todys raised his batting average by .75 points over the last three weeks and is now second on the team with a .330 average. He has had a hit in nine of the last 11 and 15 of the last 18 games.

Todys and the Buckeyes will finish a two-game series with Campbell this afternoon and will host Penn State this weekend.
