COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following a weekend of non-conference play in the D1 in D.C. tournament, Sophie Jaques and Andrea Braendli have been awarded WCHA weekly honors. Jaques earned the Defender of the Week nod while Braendli garnered Goaltender of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Jaques, a senior from Toronto, Ontario, posted five points on the weekend to tie for the most points on the team in the tournament. She recorded two power play goals against St. Lawrence as the Buckeyes finished 5-7 on the power play in two games. Overall, she recorded a team-high 12 shots in the tournament and added a shorthanded goal for Ohio State against the Saints.

With eight power play goals this season, Jaques ranks 10th among all-time Ohio State players in single-season power play scoring and has recorded the most PPG in a single season since Natalie Spooner recorded 12 during the 2011-12 season.

Braendli, a senior from Zurich, Switzerland, played all 120 minutes of the D1 in D.C. tournament between the pipes for the Buckeyes. She stopped 44 shots on the weekend, including 30 saves against Penn State. Closing the weekend with a .917 save percentage, Braendli improved to 8-2-0 this season with the wins over the Saints and Nittany Lions.

The weekly defenseman award is Jaques’ fourth of the year and third of the month. Braendli received her third weekly goaltending accolade this season after starting the year with a pair of honors.
