COLUMBUS, Ohio — Andrea Braendli continues to earn recognition as she’s notched back-to-back Western Collegiate Hockey Association Goaltender of the Week honors, Powered by GoodWood Hockey, conference officials announced Tuesday.
Braendli followed up her award winning performance against Wisconsin with another stellar weekend, only allowing two goals in the series as the Buckeyes swept Minnesota State in the first round of the WCHA Tournament. After conceding two goals in Friday’s 3-2 win, the freshman goalie bounced back with a 28-save shutout on Saturday to earn the sweep and advance the Buckeyes to the WCHA Final Faceoff.
Saturday’s shutout marks the sixth clean sheet for Braendli this season, good for second in the league. Her six shutouts tie her for the third-highest total for a Buckeye in a single season. On the season Braendli leads the WCHA with a .939 save percentage.
The Buckeyes head to Minneapolis this weekend for the WCHA Final Faceoff where they’ll clash with Wisconsin for a spot in the WCHA Championship game. Puck drop for the WCHA Final Faceoff Semifinal is set for 6:07 p.m. ET on Saturday.
