CONWAY, S.C. – Brady Cherry, a freshman infielder on the Ohio State baseball team, was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. A native of Pendleton, Ind., Cherry earns his first career weekly honor.
The Buckeye rookie batted .667 (4-for-6) with two runs scored, two home runs, three RBI, 10 total bases and two walks to help Ohio State to a 2-1 mark over the weekend at the Baseball at The Beach Tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina. He guided the Buckeyes at the dish in a 6-4 win at No. 19 Coastal Carolina on Saturday with a 3-for-4 performance, launching two home runs in the team’s first ranked win of 2016.
The Scarlet and Gray have collected back-to-back weekly honors after Jacob Bosiokovic was named B1G Player of the Week Feb. 22.

The Buckeyes conclude action at the 17th annual Caravelle Resort Baseball at the Beach Tournament at No. 19 Coastal Carolina at 4 p.m. ET Monday at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.
