COLUMBUS, Ohio – The postseason honors have continued to roll in for the Ohio State women’s soccer team as Ashley Bowyer was named a first-team NSCAA/adidas Scholar-Athlete All-American at the NSCAA All-America luncheon Jan. 16.

The senior midfielder was also named first-team Scholar-Athlete All-Mideast region on the day she was drafted in the fifth round of the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) draft by FC Gold Pride. Bowyer, a pre-physical therapy major, became the sixth Buckeye to be named an NSCAA Scholar All-American.

A 2009 NSCAA third-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection, Bowyer helped lead the Buckeyes to the NCAA tournament and a ranking as high as No. 11 nationally, scoring four goals and dishing out five assists in 2009. The two-year captain started 82 career games, fourth-most all-time at Ohio State, and ranks fifth on the career assists list with 16. Last week, Bowyer received her third Academic All-Big Ten award.
