COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State director of swimming and diving Bill Dorenkott was elected to the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Board of Directors this past weekend at the 53rd annual ASCA World Clinic in Orlando, Fla. He was chosen to the board after a vote of more than 500 ASCA members.
“I am humbled and honored to be able to serve my peers as a member of the ASCA Board of Directors,” Dorenkott said. “My first ASCA World Clinic was thirty years ago. You could say we have grown together over the past three decades. Many of my mentors and role models in the sport have served in this capacity. This is my opportunity to Pay it Forward.”
Entering his 14th season at Ohio State and fifth as the director of the Buckeye swim and dive programs, Dorenkott was named the Big Ten Women’s Coach of the Year this past season. He helped Ohio State to seventh-place finishes at the 2021 NCAA Championships on both the men’s and women’s side, the first time in program history that both teams finished in the top ten at the event in the same year. The women’s program won their second consecutive Big Ten title in 2021 while the men finished third at the conference championship meet.
