BUCKEYES IN A NUTSHELL
The Wildcats are 1-4 this season, most recently suffering a 28-18 loss to SIU-Edwardsville in which they forfeited matches at 149, 157 and 197 pounds. Northwestern’s win came over Franklin and Marshall (30-18) while it also fell to Rider (27-19) and Princeton (24-18).
Jason Tsirtsis, a redshirt junior, is the Wildcats’ most decorated wrestler, claiming Big Ten titles in 2014 and 2015 along with a national championship at 149 pounds in 2014. He finished third nationally last year. Tsirtsis has wrestled in just one match this season.

TOMASELLO TO COMPETE IN SENIOR NATIONALS/TRIALS QUALIFER
Redshirt sophomore and reigning national champion Nathan Tomasello will take his second shot at qualifying for the Olympic Trials and he competes on Saturday, Dec. 19 at the 2015 Senior Nationals/Trials Qualifier in Las Vegas. Just last month, Tomasello reached the quarterfinals of the Bill Farrell International Open. Tomasello must finish in the top seven of his weight class (57 kg.) to earn a sport at the Olympic Trials, which takes place April 9-10 at Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa. Four-time NCAA champion Logan Stieber and two-time All-American Reece Humphrey are also registered for the event.
ALL-TIME VS. NORTHWESTERN
Ohio State leads the all-time series vs. the Wildcats, 41-29-1, and has won six of the last seven meetings. The two teams did not meet last year, but in during the 2013-14 campaign, the Buckeyes handed the Wildcats a 21-12 loss at Cincinnati Moeller High School.
