COLUMBUS, Ohio – Events benefiting the Michael R. Breschi and Aidan W., Daniel P., and Angela M. Lindner memorial scholarships are set for this April in conjunction with Ohio State men’s lacrosse games. The MRB event will be held in Maryland April 2, with the Lindner gathering in Columbus April 24.

“We are grateful to have these two events as a way to honor and remember Michael and the Lindner family,” Nick Myers, Ohio State head coach, said. “We are thankful to have this opportunity to get together with Coach Breschi and the North Carolina family to honor Mike. The MRB Committee has worked very hard to make this event bigger and better every year. We look forward to a wonderful evening of fellowship and a celebration of Michael’s Life. Thumbs Up!

“The Alumni and Friends weekend grows each season and is a great end to the Showdown in the Shoe day,” Myers said. “We appreciate the effort the ADA committee puts into the event to both strengthen the tradition of Ohio State lacrosse and raise money for the Lindner scholarship to carry on their memory.”

The Michael R. Breschi Scholarship Fund Dinner is at 7 p.m. Friday, April 2 at Oregon Ridge (13555 Beaver Dam Road) in Cockeyesville, Md. The event, an evening of food, friends and fellowship where guests can learn more about the MRB Scholarship Fund and celebrate the life of Michael Breschi, features a Good Friday friendly buffet and includes a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $55 per person and $500 for a table and all guests must be 21 or older. See the attached flyer for more information or to register.

The Michael R. Breschi Memorial Scholarship, the largest memorial endowed scholarship in the Ohio State Department of Athletics, was created in memory of Michael Breschi, the son of former Ohio State lacrosse coach Joe Breschi, who passed away tragically in March 2004 when he was just 3 years old. The Michael Robert Breschi Scholarship is given to a senior lacrosse player every year who best exemplifies the spirit of Michael.

This is the seventh annual dinner for the MRB scholarship fund. It is the first time it is not being held the night before the Buckeyes face off against North Carolina, Coach Breschi’s alma mater where he is currently the head coach. The next day the Buckeyes will take on Loyola, with the Tar Heels facing off against Johns Hopkins.

In the fall the Buckeyes held hosted Johns Hopkins in the 2009 “Thumbs Up” event, raising more than $5,000 for the MRB Scholarship.

As part of the sixth annual Alumni and Friends Weekend, held in conjunction with the “Showdown at the Shoe” April 24 when Ohio State takes on Air Force in Ohio Stadium prior to the Buckeye football team’s spring game, a postgame gathering will be held at King Avenue Five (945 King Avenue) in Columbus to raise move for The Aidan W., Daniel P., and Angela M. Lindner Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund. The cost is $30 a person and includes food, a t-shirt, a gift bag and more and a raffle will be held. See the attached flyer for more information on how to register.

The Aidan W., Daniel P., and Angela M. Lindner Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund, is given to a junior on the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team who demonstrates the qualities of integrity and leadership. It was established after former Buckeye Dan Lindner (1986-89), lost four members of his family in a traffic accident in 2006. The scholarship honors the memory of his wife, Angela, sons Daniel P. and Aidan, and mother-in-law Dorothy Meller.

Ohio State’s annual golf outing each fall also raises funds for the Lindner scholarship fund.
