COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its weekly track and field awards on Wednesday. Graduate sprinter Anavia Battle was named Big Ten Female Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Gamecock Invite last weekend.
Battle made her outdoor debut this past weekend by winning all three events and contributing to an outdoor school record 4x100m relay performance. Battle ran the second leg of the record-setting relay squad (43.17) in their win and earned individual victories in the 200m (22.42) and 100m (11.17). She beat the field by .67 seconds in the 200m and .28 seconds in the 100m.
Battle’s 200m time ranks third in the country and her 100m time is 13th, while the 4×100 relay ranks eighth.
