COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomores Dan Burkhart and Alex Wimmers have been friends since the age of nine. The duo, now starring for the Ohio State baseball team, have been teammates that long, too, playing sports together at St. Michaels, a K-8 school just outside of Cincinnati, and then at powerful Archbishop Moeller before becoming Buckeyes. As pitcher and catcher, they have been a battery in baseball games and practices more times than either can remember…perhaps hundreds of times, they think.

The pair didn’t come to Ohio State as a package, though. They made their decisions to become Ohio State student-athletes independently. The Big Ten Network spent some time recently with the St. Michaels-to-Archbishop Moeller-to-Ohio State teammates. Here is the BTN story about these boys to Buckeyes, with a photo album, too.

Editor’s Note: The Big Ten Network representatives are extremely grateful to Dan and Alex for the time they took out of their off day recently to accommodate the production shoot…and for their patience. Everyone associated with the production is also thankful for the efforts of Dan and Alex’s parents, roommates and friends, who helped out with everything from straightening the apartment to rounding up photos of the duo when they were younger. Photos of the BTN production shoot and Dan and Alex playing baseball can be viewed in the attached photo album. Enjoy.
