The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team will begin its quest for a Big Ten Tournament title when it takes on Rutgers in the quarterfinals. The No. 5 seed Buckeyes (4-8) and No. 4 seed Scarlet Knights (5-7) will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Penn State is hosting all three rounds of the tournament at Panzer Stadium in State College, Pa., with all seven games televised on BTN and available through the Fox Sports app.
The winner of the game between Ohio State and Rutgers will face No. 1 seed Northwestern at 5 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. The final is set for noon Sunday. The other quarterfinal matchups are No. 2 Maryland vs. No. 7 Michigan and No. 3 Johns Hopkins vs. No. 6 Penn State.
This season, the Buckeyes and Rutgers met Feb. 26-28 in Piscataway, with the Scarlet Knights winning both (12-9, 10-9).
Ohio State has faced Rutgers twice in the Big Ten Tournament. In 2015 the No. 4 seed Buckeyes defeated the No. 5 seed Scarlet Knights 17-7 in the quarterfinals and then topped No. 1 seed Maryland in the semifinals before falling to No. 2 seed Penn State in the championship game. In 2016 the Scarlet Knights, seeded fifth, defeated the No. 4 seed Buckeyes, 11-10.
