Aviles Moves Up to Second in Program History in the Discus Throw

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team began competition at the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational on Thursday with a top-five all-time program performance. Carlos Aviles’ best mark of 58.91m in the discus competition at the Bobcat Invitational (runner-up) moved him up to second in program history.

TEXAS RELAYS

  • Pole vault: Luke Bendick cleared 5.31m on the men’s side to finish fourth. On the women’s side, Abbey tied for fifth by clearing 4.00m.
  • 400m hurdles: Evan Matthews finished second in his heat and 11th overall (53.36).

BOBCAT INVITATIONAL

  • Discus: Faith Bender finished second on the women’s side with a best throw of 55.35m.
  • Pole vault: In the B section, AnneMarie Moses finished fourth by clearing 3.75m – the same height as the winner. In the men’s B section, Daniel Drellishak (tied for sixth) and Reo Ogundare (eighth overall) each cleared 4.85m.
