Aneka Seumanutafa Set to Participate in NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Aneka Seumanutafa, a freshman on the Ohio State women’s golf team, will tee it up as an individual at NCAA Championships starting Friday at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark. Seumanutafa will be paired with Ellie Slama of Oregon State and Kaitlin Milligan of Oklahoma in the first two rounds beginning at 1:50 p.m. ET Friday.

The 2019 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and first team All-Big Ten pick, Seumanutafa carded a 5-under 211 to tie for seventh at an NCAA Regional last week in Cle Elum, Wash. The Emmitsburg, Md., native was the Mary Fossum Award winning by leading the Big Ten in scoring average this past season. Through her first 23 collegiate rounds, Seumanutafa ranks fifth nationally and second among freshmen with a 71.5 scoring average, 12th in par-4 scoring at 4.04 and 16th in par-5 scoring at 4.74.

In eight events since arriving in Columbus in January, Seumanutafa has placed in the Top 25 in each of them, earning five Top 10 finishes and three in the Top 5 while winning the Westbrook Spring Invitational in late-February. Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week twice this spring, Seumanutafa is one of 15 players nationally to record a 64 or better this season when she shot 6-under par in the second round of the Lady Gator Invitational March 9. Out of 23 total rounds this spring, 22.5 have counted toward the team total while six have been in the 60’s and 10 have been under-par.
