COLUMBUS, Ohio – Soon to be senior and three-time NCAA qualifier Bianca Alvarez will join recently graduated Katie Bell in representing The Ohio State University at the Summer World University Games. The competition will be taking place August 11-23 in Shenzhen, China.

The USA diving roster for the summer games was recently finalized and includes 12 different divers from nine different universities. Ohio State is one of three universities with two divers competing in China.

Alvarez, from Miami, Fla. will be competing in the one and three-meter dives. She will also compete in the synchronized three-meter dive in China. Alvarez finished in fourth place in both the one and three-meter dives at the 2011 NCAA championships in Austin, Texas. The molecular genetics major had a runner up finish in the three-meter dive at the 2008 NCAA championships as a freshman.

Bell, hailing from Columbus, Ohio and Graham High School, will compete in the ten-meter platform dive in China. Katie is also an All-American by virtue of a fifth-place finish at the 2009 NCAA championships in the platform dive. She won a U.S. Diving national championship on the platform in Tallahassee, Fla. in 2009. She took home a silver medal in the platform at the USA winter nationals in Feb. 2011.
