COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State guards Ameryst Alston and Kelsey Mitchell were named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 20 List on Friday.

Both players were named to the Preseason Top 30 at the start of the year. Mitchell was a quarterfinalist for the award last year as a freshman.

In early February, the Late Season Top 20 list will be announced. Fifteen top players who have proven to their universities that they are also making progress toward graduation and maintaining at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA will be submitted to the voters on the ballot prior to the NCAA Tournament. The five-woman Wooden Award All-American Team will be announced the week of the “Elite Eight” round of the NCAA Tournament.

Mitchell and Alston make up one of the top scoring back courts in the country. Mitchell is second in the country in scoring at 25.2 points per game and Alston is 52nd at 18.4 ppg. They combine to average 43.6 points per game which is half of the team’s 86.2 ppg which is second in the country.

The duo has also recorded almost half of the team’s assists as well as 79 of the team’s 111 three-pointers. Mitchell was named to the National Freshman of the Year last after leading the country in scoring and Alston is a two-time All-B1G honoree after averaging better than 19 points per game over the last two years.
