After a first round bye in the 32-player draw, Allen, the No. 2 seed, dropped just two games in the Round of 16, winning 6-0, 6-2. The Buckeye prevailed over Colorado’s Ellen Puzak in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-3.
In the semifinals, Allen came back for a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (5) win. In the championship match Monday morning against Nandini Das, who plays at Florida State, Allen won the first set in a tiebreaker before shutting out her opponent in the second set, 7-6 (5), 6-0.
Allen, a native of Lombard, Ill., was 14-8 overall in 2019-20, with a 7-4 record in dual matches, playing on court four. Among her singles wins was a three-set victory to clinch the Buckeyes’ victory over Florida State in a College MatchDay match. Allen ended the year ranked 61st in doubles and posted four doubles dual match victories.
