COLUMBUS, Ohio – Star Allen was named Big Ten Player of the Week Monday in an announcement made by the conference office. The sophomore forward averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds in three Ohio State victories last week.

Allen’s player of the week award is the fifth this season won by an Ohio State player. Teammate and fellow Columbus Independence High School product Jessica Davenport has won four weekly honors this season. Allen fueled Ohio State’s 64-55 victory at No. 10 Purdue, which gave the Buckeyes sole possession of first place in the league race. She finished the game with her first career double-double at 21 points and 13 rebounds. Allen netted 10-of-12 field goal attempts and grabbed six offensive boards against the Boilermakers.

Allen posted double-double No. 2 at Northwestern Thursday. She totaled a game-high 19 points and career-best 15 rebounds, making 8-of-11 FG and pulling down another six offensive caroms. Allen finished off her career week with an 11-point outing vs. Iowa. She went 4-6 from the floor against the Hawkeyes and grabbed a pair of rebounds.

For the week, Allen made 22-of-29 FG attempts for a .759 percentage. She totaled 13 offensive rebounds and made 7-of-10 free throw tries.

Ohio State puts its 14-game overall win streak and 27-contest Big Ten victory run on the line at Minnesota at 8 p.m. Thursday.
