COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State remains on the road this week and will head to Cameron Indoor Stadium to take on No. 17 Duke in this year’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday night. The teams are meeting for the fifth time in the challenge. Tip-off is set for 7:15 p.m. and television coverage will be on ESPN.

  • The teams are meeting exactly one year to the day that Ohio State knocked-off then No. 1 Duke 71-66 in last year’s challenge in Columbus.
  • This will officially be Ohio State’s 21st appearance in the event (and likely it’s last), which began in 1999. The Buckeyes are 9-11 all-time and have won their matchup each of the last three seasons
  • This will be the fifth meeting between Ohio State and Duke in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Duke won the first meeting in 2002 which was played in Greensboro, N.C. The teams split the meetings in 2011 and 2012, with each team winning on its home court and then the Buckeyes collected the big win last year in Columbus.
  • Not that this is a coincidence, but each of the last two times the Ohio State football team has lost to That Team Up North (2011 and 2021), the Ohio State basketball team has followed just days later with a win over Duke in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
  • Ohio State has opened the year at 5-1 and is coming off a good week at the Maui Invitational. In addition to sun and warm temperatures, the Buckeyes went 2-1 on the court with wins over in-state rival Cincinnati and No. 21 Texas Tech.
  • The Buckeyes jump into the rankings for the first time this week as they are No. 25 in both the AP and coaches polls.
  • Duke enters the game at 6-2 overall and is also coming off a 2-1 showing at the Phil Knight Legacy tournament in Portland. The Blue Devils are ranked No. 17 in the AP poll and No. 16 in the coaches poll.
  • This will be the ninth all-time meeting between Ohio State and Duke and just the second in which one of the two teams is not ranked in the Top 10.
  • Senior forward Justice Sueing is coming off a career performance vs. Texas Tech. In front of friends and family in his home state, Sueing scored a career-high 33 points and at one point in the second half, he scored 15 consecutive Ohio State points.
