Graduates of the Spring Class of 2020,⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
On behalf of the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country coaching staff: CONGRATULATIONS!! We are all saddened that, due to this unprecedented pandemic, you and your families have been denied the opportunity to attend our annual Jesse Owens Banquet where your coaches would have had the privilege of sharing some of the special moments and successes of your collegiate journey. We are all grateful for the memories that your legacy leaves us.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Each of you has worked hard to achieve this very special milestone in your lives and the opportunity to “strut” across the stage to receive your undergraduate degree. I want to express to you and your families our most sincere regret that your graduation experience won’t be the one you have all imagined. At the same time, we hope that you realize that the accomplishment of a college degree is no less meaningful.⁣⁣⁣

One thing that remains constant in these challenging times is the knowledge that your commitment to yourselves, to each other and to our staff, has allowed us to win multiple Big 10 Championships, TOGETHER! More noteworthy is the fact that you simultaneously upheld scholarly success in your respective academic fields of study. We have watched most of you at the annual Student-Athlete Scholar Banquet get cleaned up, dressed up and acknowledged for your pursuit of academic achievement. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
This is a historical time in the history of our country and our university. Your accomplishments are also historical moments in each of your lives. As this part of your collegiate career concludes, we—your coaches—are excited to see what new beginnings await you! Your transformation from collegiate freshmen to college graduates has often been funny, annoying, tearful, and cheerful, but never without a dull moment. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
To the Graduating Class of 2020 from The Ohio State University: all of your coaches salute you, we honor you, and we are proud of you. We can’t let you go without wishing you the very best in life and giving each of you 3 CLAPS!!! ⁣⁣⁣
