COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s 51-game 2022 regular season schedule is finalized and will begin on Friday, Feb. 11 when the Buckeyes head to Boca Raton, Fla. for the FAU Invitational. After playing a conference-only schedule in 2021, Ohio State returns to a full complement of non-conference contests in 2022 and 23 Big Ten games, which begin the weekend of March 25-27.
All told, the Buckeyes’ first 25 games will be played away from home and include nearly 4,000 miles of travel to destinations such as Boca Raton, Fla., Leesburg, Fla., Columbia, S.C. and Tampa, Fla. The season kicks off Feb. 11-13 with games against Northern Illinois, Louisville, Bethune-Cookman and Florida Atlantic.
Ohio State’s second trip to Florida comes a week later at The Spring Games, which take place this year in Leesburg, Fla. The Buckeyes are slated to face Butler (Feb. 18), South Alabama (Feb. 18), Stetson (Feb. 19), Liberty (Feb. 19) and North Carolina (Feb. 20).
South Carolina’s Gamecock Invitational will be next Feb. 25-27 and feature games with Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Troy and Miami (Ohio). After an off weekend, the Buckeyes will spent Spring Break in Tampa, Fla. for two weekends of the USF Invitational with a midweek game against Central Florida added. The Buckeyes will end up playing 11 games over the course of eight days.
Following a midweek contest at Ohio on March 23, Ohio State opens Big Ten play at home the weekend of March 25-27 against Indiana. The Buckeyes have two other home conference weekends: vs. Northwestern (April 8-10) and Nebraska (April 29-May 1). They also host a midweek doubleheader versus Penn State (April 5).
Big Ten series on the road this spring are at Michigan State (April 1-3), Iowa (April 15-17), Michigan (April 22-24) and Maryland (May 6-8). The Big Ten Tournament will be held in East Lansing this year and run from May 11-14.
