22 from Softball Earn OSU Scholar-Athlete Honors


COLUMBUS, Ohio – Twenty-two members of the Ohio State softball team picked up OSU Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2020-21 academic year. To earn the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better. The 22 scholar-athletes represent 91.6 percent of the total roster.

Spencer Sansom, a graduate student who is enrolled in Ohio State’s sports management master’s degree program, earned scholar-athlete honors for the fifth time. Niki Carver is a four-time honoree (special education) while Carley Gaskill (kinesiology), Skylar Hayward (health sciences), Ashley Prange (health sciences) and Jessica Ross (English) became three-time Scholar-Athletes.

First-time OSU Scholar-Athletes were all eight members of the freshmen class along with sophomores Taylor Pack (exploration) and Mariah Rodriguez (management and industry – exploring).

The group was part of 799 Ohio State student-athletes recognized with the honor for the 2020-21 academic year.
