COLUMBUS, Ohio With 12 teams currently signed on to participate, the third installment of the Ohio State’s student-athlete talent show, Buckeyes Got Talent,’ is already shaping up to be a night to remember. The highly anticipated community service event will open its curtains at 7 p.m. May 6 in St. John Arena.

Members of the media are invited for a sneak peek at the acts from 7:30-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday evening at the French Field House.

Top returning competitors include the men’s cross country team, the reigning Buckeyes Got Talent’ champions, as well as the wrestling team who won the inaugural title in 2007. Also returning to the stage in 2009 are representatives from football, men’s lacrosse, women’s gymnastics, men’s soccer and women’s swimming, just to name a few.

General admission tickets for the event can be purchased at the door for $5 with Ohio State student tickets discounted to $3 and no charge for children ages 6 and under. All proceeds from Buckeye Got Talent’ will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Columbus. In its two years, the show has raised more than $2,600.

In addition to helping the community, the talent show also provides an opportunity for the 36 Buckeye varsity sports to win bragging rights as the “most talented.” In 2008, the men’s cross country team took the crown with a four-man band, covering “That Thing You Do.” Coming in second was the men’s track and field team while men’s lacrosse rounded out the Top 3.

In its inaugural year, the wrestling team won the 2007 Buckeyes Got Talent title with a well-choreographed dance-off.
