Kyle Bubolz, Northwestern junior
Member of winning 200-yard Freestyle Relay
“I came to Northwestern solely because I knew we would have a good relay. We take pride in our relays at Northwestern and there is nothing like setting a meet record to rally up excitement for the team at a meet.”

Matt Patton, Michigan sophomore
Winner 500-yard Freestyle
“It means a lot to me and my team. We have a tradition of 500-yard freestylers at Michigan. It’s a great honor to me personally. I never thought I’d be a part of the rich tradition as a sophomore. It’s a real honor for me.”

Mike Alexandrov, Northwestern senior
Winner 200-yard Individual Medley
“This is a race I’ve waited to win a couple of years now at the Big Ten championships. It’s exciting since it’s my last time because I am going out on a good note.”

Matt Grevers, Northwestern senior
Winner 50-yard Freestyle
“The Big Ten is one of the best conferences so it is exciting to win this race. As a senior, I wanted to make my mark so people don’t forget me. We have a lot of momentum going in this meet so far. If we stay disciplined hopefully good things will come.”

Berkley Showe, Ohio State freshman
Winner 1-meter Springboard
“It means so much for me to win at home. It’s been a great training environment all year and I’ve enjoyed working with my teammates.”

Bruno Barbic, Northwestern junior
Member of winning 400-yard Medley Relay
“It was an exciting swim because this is my first Big Ten Championship win in this relay. We have been talking about this relay all year because it is our best race. It was exciting to break the school record and we hope will we be ready to break the NCAA record in a few weeks.”

Ohio State head coach Bill Wadley
Coach of leading team, day one
“We have to give credit to our head diving coach Vince Panzano and our divers for their work today. We broke school records on every event but the final relay today so our swimmers are swimming up a storm. It’s only two sessions of six but it is still nice to be on top going into the second day.”

Ohio State head diving coach Vince Panzano
“All four of our divers did great today. It was great to see Berkley (Showe) win. They’ve been training hard all year and hopefully they’ll continue to do well through the next two days.”
