The 2002-03 rifle squad has eight returning letterwinners back from a team that was 45-9 last season. Leading the way is senior Abhijeet Konduskar, a second team All-American in smallbore and air rifle. The 2002 smallbore champion of the Western Intercollegiate Rifle Association, Konduskar competed at the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games this summer for India. Junior John Stellwag captured the air rifle championship of the WIRC last season and was a first team all-conference selection in both smallbore and air rifle. Junior Jessica Sears took third in the WIRC smallbore and tied for third in air rifle. She was first team all-conference in both events. Senior Levi Kill was a second team all-conferece selection in smallbore last season. Sophomore Ryan Kohatsu tied for third in air rifle in the WIRC and was a first team all-conference selection. He was also a second team all-conference selection in air rifle. Other contributing members include sophomore Rachel Ashbrook and junior Jonathon Nicolazzo. Junior Rebecca Dean returns after a redshirt season.
Newcomers to the squad include freshmen Paul Becks, Douglas Fox, and Abby Myers and sophomore John Robak. Becks was the 2002 State Junior Olympic Champion in smallbore and set eight NRA national records as a sub junior. Robak was a 2001 and 2002 state champion with the Detroit Sportsmen and took first place in civilian.
