After some strong summer efforts, 16 members of the Ohio State women’s swimming team have already posted qualifying times good enough to compete in their respective Olympic Trials leading up to next summer’s London Olympic Games.

“I am so unbelievably proud of our team for its commitment to excellence and corresponding improvements,” says Ohio State head coach Bill Dorenkott. “We are the most rapidly improving team in the country and the reason is simple: highly motivated, work ethic-driven young people in a dynamic team environment. Stefanie (Williams, associate head coach) and I believe 2012 is going to be a special year for the Buckeyes.”

Olympic qualifiers to date include:

Canada: Michelle Williams, Sam Cheverton

United States: Kelly Ann Baird, Jackie Brousseau, Emily Creran, Mary Sarah Cruzan, Megan Detro, Shannon Draves, Catherine Eitel, Kristyn Fulcher, Lauren Massey, Kelsey Moran, Natalie Nichols, Alex Norris and Angela Severn.
