106 Buckeyes Claim Fall Academic All-Big Ten Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State had 106 fall student-athletes named to the Academic All-Big Ten team, the conference announced Wednesday. The Buckeyes surpassed the previous high of 82 All-Big Ten selections in 2010.

In all, 1,253 fall student-athletes were recognized across the conference from field hockey, football, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball programs. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of November 1 for fall sports, who have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Ohio State senior Kelsey Nolan of the field hockey team and sophomore Jake Metzer of the football team were two of 18 fall student-athletes who have maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. For the Buckeyes, football led the way with 33 honorees. Women’s cross country and women’s soccer had 16 selections each, followed by field hockey (15), men’s soccer (10), men’s cross country (9) and women’s volleyball (7).
