COLUMBUS, Ohio – Zack Sobel, a freshman on the Ohio State men’s golf team, was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Big Ten Match Play Championship. The Clearwater, Fla., native had a 3-0-1 record while helping the Buckeyes to a 2-1-1 mark at the second-annual event held Feb. 12-13 at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla.

Playing in just the second team event of his young career, Sobel opened match play with a decisive victory, 5 and 4, over Matthew Moseley as Ohio State beat Michigan State, 5-1. In round two, he topped Iowa’s Dusty Koth, 3 and 2, but the Buckeyes tied the Hawkeyes and dropped the tiebreaker to move into the consolation round.

On the second day of competition, Sobel halved his opening match against Alexander Sitompul as Ohio State fell to rival Michigan, 3.5-2.5. The Buckeyes ended on a high note, handedly defeating Indiana, 5-1, including a 3 and 1 Sobel victory over Ren Han of the Hoosiers.

The Big Ten Network will air a recap of the Big Ten Match Play Championship Sunday, March 14 at 3:30 p.m. (ET).
