Columbus, Ohio The Ohio State women’s volleyball team played a three-game scrimmage Tuesday night in St. John Arena as a final warm up before their season opener Friday at 7 p.m. against Virginia Commonwealth. The Scarlet team won, 2-1 (25-20, 22-25, 28-26) with Katie Dull scoring a match-high 16 kills. Kaitlyn Leary added 13 with Anna Szerszen and Mariah Booth scoring nine each. Defensively Kelsey Bowler and Sarah Mignin recorded 17 digs each with Betsy Hone adding 10. Hone collected 39 assists in the match with Amanda Peterson adding 27.

The Buckeyes will open the 2010 season by hosting Virginia Commonwealth at 7 p.m., Friday in the Sports Imports Classic. Play continues Saturday with OSU hosting Western Michigan at 11 a.m. and Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. Western Michigan and Pittsburgh face off at 3 p.m.
