COLUMBUS, OhioWomen’s volleyball recruits, Emily Danks and Amanda Peterson have been named members of the Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 list honoring the top-50 high school seniors for 2009. Both signed national letters of intent last fall to play of OhioState.
Danks, is a 6-foot, 1-inch right-side hitter from Round Rock, Texas. She led the Round Rock High School Lady Dragons to a school record 39-6 overall record and regional runner-ups in her senior season. Danks was also a member of the Austin Junior club team that won the 2008 Junior Olympics national championship in July. She was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts.
Peterson, is a 6-foot setter from GlenbardEastHigh School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. In her senior season, Peterson finished with 233 assists, 352 kills, 73 blocks and 37 aces to lead her team to a regional title. She is a four-year letter winner and a three-time All DuPage Valley Conference selection. Peterson aided her Sport Performance club team to the JVDA 17 Open championship this past summer.
“We are very proud to be one of the few programs in the nation to have at least two of our recruits honored on Volleyball Magazine’s FAB 50 list,” head coach Geoff Carlston said. “Emily Danks and Amanda Peterson are going to be tremendous players for us and round out an exciting 2009 class for Ohio State Volleyball.”
OhioState is one of 13 schools to have two or more recruits named to the Fab 50, including five from the Big Ten Conference. The Big Ten leads the nation with 15 Fab 50 selections. The Pac-10 and Big-12 Conferences ranks second with 12 each.
