COLUMBUS, OH The Ohio State women’s track and field team returns to action this weekend at the Volunteer Track Classic in Knoxville, Tenn.

Alabama and Carson-Newman will join the Buckeyes and host Tennessee in Knoxville.
The Lady Vols, the sixth-ranked team in the country, are led by Sarah Bowman, the nation’s top runner in the 1500m and tenth-ranked performer in the 800m. Sophomore Annie Alexander holds top five national marks in both the discus and shot put. Tennessee’s SEC rival Alabama is currently ranked No. 80 in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll.

The meet will be held April 17-18 at the University of Tennessee’s Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium.
Last Time Out
Ohio State competed at the Texas Relays and Tiger Track Classic April 3 and 4.
Letecia Wright’s regional qualifying time of 13.35 in the 100m hurdles at the Texas Relays led the Buckeye contingent in Austin. The 4x200m relay team of Wright, Ayrizanna Favours, Ashley Caldwell and Latoya Sanderson nearly broke the Ohio State school record (set in 2001 at 1:36.16) with their seventh-place time of 1:37.85. Texas A&M took the title with a time of 1:32.31.
At the Tiger Track Classic, Jordan Jennewine claimed a fifth-place finish in the 800m run at 2:12.40. Ashley Jones took ninth in 2:14.57.
Alana Gray set a personal record in the 100m hurdles with an eighth-place finish in 14.25, while Jewelisa Thompson placed ninth in the 400m hurdles at 1:05.43.
Ellen Birmingham, a sophomore from Worthington, Ohio, placed tenth in the 3000m run with a time of 10:07.78, a career best.
In the field, Ohio State was led by two Top Six finishers in the long jump. Kelcey McKinney was fifth with a jump of 5.72m, while Bridget Jacobs finished in sixth at 5.65m.
The Buckeyes will compete next week at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
