COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team dropped a pair of duals to No. 11 Indiana and No. 23 Missouri in Bloomington, Ind., on Saturday afternoon. Buckeyes lost to the Hoosiers, 215-84, and the Tigers, 207-93, and fall to 4-2 on the season and 0-1 in Big Ten competition.
The team of Samantha Cheverton, Catherine Eitel, Courtney Brayman and Lisa Narum opened the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:46.71). Freshman Natalie Nichols followed with a second-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle in a career-best time of 16:56.66.
Cheverton, the sophomore from Lachine, Quebec, tallied three runner-up finishes during the meet. Cheverton earned second in the 100 and 200 backstrokes in 56.03 and 1:58.73, respectively. In her final race of the day, Cheverton recorded a time of 55.34 in the 100 butterfly to place second.
Freshman Catherine Eitel of Upper Arlington earned third in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:06.13, while senior Griet Buelens took fifth in the 200 butterfly in 2:03.37. Nichols finished the day with a fourth-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 4:55.50 and sophomore Katelyn Brix took fifth in the 400 individual medley in 4:25.43.
On the diving side of the competition, sophomore Kristen Asman tallied a third-place finish on the three-meter springboard in 297.05 points. Asman also finished sixth on the one-meter with 247.95 points.
The Buckeyes closed out the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Haley Mitchell, Anita Beck, Jill Lockhart and Buelens touched the wall in a time of 1:37.67.
The Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., for a dual meet against Michigan next week. The meet at Canham Auditorium is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23.
