COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team has enjoyed a successful 2008-09 season under first-year head coach Bill Dorenkott. Highlighting the season was the 12 school records broken throughout the year.
The Buckeyes finished the season with a 5-4 mark in dual meets. Ohio State finished eighth at the conference meet but, more importantly, planted positive seeds for the future. The Scarlet and Gray broke seven individual records and four relay records during the Big Ten championships and saw 16 individuals finish in the top 16. Over 85 percent of the swims were lifetime-best swims and the Buckeyes will return all but three swimmers to next year’s squad.
A total of 12 school records were broken during the season. Highlighting the list is sophomore Samantha Cheverton. The Lachine, Quebec, product broke five individual records and was a part of three record-breaking relays.
