COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State will play host to Kent State in an exhibition women’s soccer match at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, on the indoor field at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, which is located just east of the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Saturday will be a busy day on the Ohio State campus with the OHSAA state wrestling tournament, women’s lacrosse, women’s track and field and the soccer game all taking place in the afternoon, so fans should consider arriving a little early.

The 22-member Ohio State team (excluding recruits coming onto campus this fall) has been busy in its winter conditioning drills and head coach Lori Walker, in her 13th season at Ohio State, likes the makeup of this team…on and off the field.

“This team and the incoming freshman class remind me of our past great teams that won the Big Ten tournament and then advanced to the NCAA tournament,” Walker, whose coaching resume includes 140 career wins, four NCAA tournament appearances and two Big Ten tournament titles, said. “The 2009  Buckeyes have many of the right soccer and personality characteristics that will help us achieve our always-high expectations.”

The exhibition match with Kent State is the first of the season for the Buckeyes, who will play a total of eight exhibition games over the course of the next seven weeks. The complete spring schedule follows.
