COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (10-7 overall, 4-6 Big Ten) defeated Iowa (4-15, 3-7) Saturday night in St. John Arena in front of 753 fans. Freshmen Suzie Stiling scored a match-high 11 kills with Shelly Draeger and Anne Botica adding seven each. Hawkeye Julie Williams had a team-high eight kills with Sara Meyermann adding seven.

Iowa held a 1-0 lead in game one off a Sara Meyermann kill but the Buckeyes quickly built a large lead in the game. Jen Flynn’s ace serve ended the game at 15-5. Ohio State hit .424 to .148 for Iowa

Ohio State opened a 6-0 lead in game two off four Hawkeye errors. The Buckeye won the game by a 15-1 count ending on an Anne Botica kill. OSU hit .478 in the game to -.032 for Iowa.

The Buckeyes continued strong in game three opening a 3-0 lead. The match ended on an Iowa error at 15-4. In the game Ohio State hit .385 to .115 for Iowa.

Team match statistics showed Ohio State hitting .427 to .071 for Iowa. OSU had a six to two advantage in blocks, a 30 to 24 lead in digs and scored on nine ace serves to none for Iowa.

Ohio State continues its current home stand with a Wednesday match against No. 1 Penn State in St. John Arena at 7 p.m.
