COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State, by a vote of the Big Ten coaches, was chosen fourth (tied with Michigan State) in the 1999 Big Ten preseason poll. The Buckeyes who finished tied for fifth last season (9-11) return all six starters from last season and 10 of 11 letterwinners. OSU was 17-14 overall in 1998 and ended the season ranked 24th in the USA TODAY/American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches Poll.

Two Ohio State student-athletes were named to the preseason All-Big Ten Volleyball Team. Senior setter Jen Flynn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and junior middle blocker Dana Stearns (Bexley, Ohio) were included in the 12-player squad.

Ohio State opens the season on Sept. 1 at Dayton and opens the home season with an exhibition match against the United States Volleyball League traveling team on Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. in St. John Arena.
