COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team defeated Big Ten-foe Michigan State, 6-1, Friday in Jesse Owens West Recreation Center. The win keeps the Buckeyes undefeated both overall (4-0) and in conference play (2-0). The Spartans fall to 5-4 on the year and 0-1 in the Big Ten.

The Buckeyes, ranked No. 44, remain at home, playing host to Michigan at noon Sunday in Jesse Owens West Recreation Center.

Ohio State opened the match by winning the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead into singles play. OSU’s No. 3 tandem of Lindsey Adams (So., Mercer Island, Wash.) and Meaghan Colville (Jr., Toronto, Ontario) posted a win over MSU’s Karen Gustafson and Kate Thomas, 8-1. The Spartans followed with a win at No. 1, as Caroline Lay and Jean Willmann topped Sadhaf Pervez (Sr., Warren, N.J.) and Lindsay Williams (Jr., Beverly Hills, Mich.), 8-4. The Buckeyes’ Erica Fisk (Jr., Indianapolis, Ind.) and Jackie Leskovar (So., Cambridge, Ontario) clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 victory over MSU’s Shelley Brady and Jean Willmann.

The Buckeyes won 5-of-6 singles matches for the 6-1 win. No. 75-ranked Pervez won in straight sets over Lay at No. 1 to remain undefeated (4-0) in the spring. Fisk, Leskovar, Emily DeCamilla (So., Sacramento, Calif.) and Adams all won in straight sets to help OSU to the victory.
