Columbus, Ohio – After knocking off No. 14 Missouri and No. 21 Eastern Michigan last weekend at the Commodore Classic, the Ohio State women’s cross country team enters the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top 30 poll for the first time since 2014 at the No. 27 spot.
The Buckeyes placed all five of their scorers inside the top 20 on Saturday at the Vaughn’s Gap Cross Country Course to claim the team title at 60 points. For the second straight race, the Scarlet and Gray were paced by sophomore Lainey Studebaker who took third with a personal-best 5k time of 17:34.8.
Studebaker was followed by Sarah Kanney (10th place/17:50.7) and Abby Nichols (12th place/17:54.5) through the finishing chute. Caroline Millican (personal best 17:59.9) and Christine Frederick (18:02.5) took 19th and 20th to finalize Ohio State’s team score for the title.
The Buckeyes will return to action on Sept. 29 at the Joe Piane Invite in South Bend, Ind.
