COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team (11-5, 1-0) will host Penn State (2-2, 1-1) in their first home meet of the 1998-99 season.

%^$SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS

%^$Penn State has not competed in more than a month when they won their own Invitational meet Dec. 3-5 1998. The Nittany Lions won the meet by a large margin over St. Bonaventure, Yale, George Washington, and Buffalo. The Lady Lions have a solid core of upperclassmen. Seniors, Arianne Adams is the team record holder, Lesley Spada, and junior diver Jamie Jaax remains undefeated for the season. Both sophomore Katie Anderson and freshman Christina Frey have stepped up right away for the Lady Lions.

%^$OSU vs. PSU HISTORY

%^$OSU and PSU did not meet last year. In 1996 OSU beat PSU 160-140 for the first time in the last nine meetings. The all- time record between the two teams is 8-1 with Penn State on top.

%^$FLORIDA TRIP RESULTS IN A WIN

%^$While the Buckeyes were on their training trip to Florida, they competed against Miami (Fla.) and Florida Atlantic. OSU lost to Miami, 104.5-135.5 and defeated Florida Atlantic, 124-78.

%^$BUCKEYES RETURN HOME

%^$The Buckeyes first eight meets this season were on the road. This is their first home meet of the season. The Buckeyes will swim their next home meet Jan.22 against Cincinnati followed by a streak of four home meets.

%^$HAZEN BIG TEN SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

%^$For the week of Dec. 1, junior Heidi Hazen was named Big Ten Swimmer of the week. Hazen paced OSU to the victory over Cleveland State, winning the 100 butterfly with a time of :57.72. She also helped the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays to first place finishes with times of 1:48.12 and 1:39.35 respectively.
