COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State picked up one relay victory and one individual win Friday in the first night of competition at the Debbie Pipher Memorial Invitational, hosted by Washington State University. The four-team invite concludes Saturday.
Pacific leads with 99 points and is followed closely by Washington State (98 points) and Ohio State (58.5 points) with Idaho a distant fourth (58.5 points).
Freshman Samantha Cheverton won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.12. The 800 freestyle relay team, comprised of freshman Katelyn Brix, freshman Anita Beck, senior Annie Rennebohm and Cheverton, took first in a Gibb Pool record time of 7:35.03.
In addition to the four student-athletes already mentioned, representing Ohio State in the meet are Haley Mitchell, Anastasia von Rahl, Colleen Schweitzer, Maggie O’Brien, Megan Alexander, Morgan Menzie and Linda Lund-Kristiansen.
Beck picked up a second-place finish in the 400 individual medley (4:30.38). Third-place Buckeyes included Linda Lund-Kristiansen in the 100 butterfly (:57.99) and 50 freestyle (:24.55), Lockhart in the 100 backstroke (:59:08) and Schweitzer in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.11).
