COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Scarlet team posted a 2-0 victory over the Gray in an intrasquad scrimmage that marked the beginning of fall practice for the Ohio State women’s soccer team Wednesday.

After a scoreless first half, Paige Maxwell registered the first goal of the afternoon, off an assist from Aubrey Fisher. The other goal came from freshman Kiiri Kuld from the top of the box.

Goalkeepers Katie Baumgardner and Rachel Middleman each made several diving saves.

Playing for Scarlet: Katie Baumgardner, Madison Beckley, Colleen Brady, Lauren Cusick, Aubrey Fisher, Lauren Granberg, Ellyn Gruber, Kiiri Kuld, Paige Maxwell, Caroline Murray, Kendyl Reed, Dani Scoliere and Megan Scoliere.

The Gray roster: Tiffany Cameron, Meredith DeLong, Megan Fuller, Jessie Greenberg, Ashley Gruenbaum, Caitlyn Martin, Rachel Middleman, Adrienne Poe-Hinton, Liz Sullivan, Chelsy Swackhamer, Aly Walker and Danica Wu.

Coming off a Big Ten championship and an NCAA College Cup appearance last season, the Buckeyes return seven starters, nine seniors and 18 letterwinners for the 2011 campaign. The Buckeyes will face Kentucky in an exhibition game in Lexington next Saturday, Aug. 13.
