COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association has ranked Ohio State 11th in the preseason Division I poll released Wednesday. The Buckeyes received 109 votes and moved up one spot from their 2002 final ranking of 12th. OSU is coming off an outstanding season last year. The Buckeyes had an overall record of 11-5, producing the most wins in the history of the program. The Buckeyes had wins over four nationally ranked teams including two ranked in the Top-10. Ohio State broke into the IWLCA rankings after winning the first five matches of the season. The Buckeyes rose to 13th in the poll after their 12-11 victory over No. 7 Maryland. Ohio State received a first-ever at-large bid to the NCAA Championship, losing at Notre Dame, 11-7, to finish the season ranked 12th with an 11-5 record.

The Buckeyes will face six teams ranked in the preseason poll in the 2003 16-game schedule. OSU will play No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 16 Penn State on the road. At home, Ohio State will host No. 18 Johns Hopkins, No. 8 Vanderbilt, No. 10 North Carolina and No. 6 Maryland.

Ohio State will open the season by hosting Stanford at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.
