COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the third year in a row members of the Ohio State women’s lacrosse team have been honored as All-America selections.
Celeste Cianfrani (Sr., Telford, Pa./Souderton) was named a Mid-Atlantic Regional First Team All-American for defense. Cianfrani had a stellar final season as captain. She led the team with 69 groundballs and her final stats reflect a well-rounded player with 15 points, six goals and nine assists. Cianfrani takes the honors of the OSU career point leader with 137 points. This surpassed Mara Simpson’s record of 133 points.
Shannon Wilson (So., Crystal Beach, Ont./ Lakeshore Catholic) was also named a Mid-Atlantic Regional First Team All-American for midfield. Wilson concluded her sophomore season showing incredible balance with 18 goals and 11 assists and was second in points. Wilson also led the team with a remarkable .450 shooting percentage.
Under the direction of sixth-year head coach Sue Stimmel, the Buckeyes finished the 2001 season with a 7-8 record.
