SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Erica Hoffman scored three goals and added one assist to lead No. 12 Syracuse to a 14-4 victory over Ohio State, Friday at the Carrier Dome. Ohio State falls to 8-7 on the season, while the Orangewomen move to 11-3.

Syracuse jumped out to a quick lead as Karen Healy scored on a free position just under two minutes into play. Katrina Hable found freshman Kim Wayne four minutes later to begin a 6-0 run by the Orangewomen. Ohio State did not score in the first half, making the halftime score 7-0 in favor of Syracuse.

The Buckeyes came on strong to open the second half, scoring two unanswered goals, but the Orangewomen struck back with 20:26 to play as Hoffman found Hable to increase Syracuse’s lead to six. Ohio State scored twice more.

Lauren Cochran (So., Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) led the Buckeyes with two goals.

Buckeye goalie Megan Barnett (So., Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) played all 60 minutes and finished with 13 saves. Syracuse goalie Carla Gigon also went the distance and recorded five saves.

The Buckeyes will return to action Sunday when they take on Colgate at 1 p.m.
