COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s ice hockey team ended its two-game series with Wisconsin tonight with an overtime tie, 1-1, at the OSU Ice Arena. The Buckeyes lost the first game to the Badgers, 2-1, on Friday night. OSU owns a 0-3-1 overall record and is 0-1-1 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association while Wisconsin’s record is 1-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the WCHA.

OSU jumped out to its first lead of the season at 7:47 in the first period when freshman Shana Frost (Fr., Frankford, Ont.) shot the puck into the upper left corner of the net for her third goal of the season off a cross from teammate Corinne Rosen (Jr., Milwaukee, Wisc.). The Buckeyes kept the lead until Wisconsin’s Kerry Weiland found the back of the net with an unassisted shot late in the second period, tying the game at one.

OSU goalie April Stojak (Fr., Kent, Ohio) made a crucial one-on-one save with 13 seconds remaining in regulation time to send the game into a 5-minute overtime period. Neither team scored in overtime. Stojak made 35 saves for the game.

The Buckeyes are back in action on Oct. 22-23 when they make their first road trip of the season to St. Cloud, Minn. to face WCHA foe St. Cloud State.
