%^$MIDDLETON, Wis.–The Ohio State women’s ice hockey team fell to No. 7 Wisconsin, 3-2, in overtime Saturday afternoon in the first game of the WCHA weekend series at Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, Wis. Following the conference loss, the Buckeyes slip to 8-12-2 overall and 6-7-2 in the WCHA. The Badgers improve to 15-5-2 overall and 9-4-2 in the WCHA.%^$

%^$The first stanza saw very few shots as most of the action took place in the neutral zone. At 5:30, Karen Rickard put the Badgers on the board first with a shot to the far right side of the OSU net. Nicole Uliasz and Kelly Kegley earned assists.%^$

%^$At 1:46 in the second, Michelle Sikich combined with Rickard to put Wisconsin ahead, 2-0. The Buckeyes got on the board when Sarah Van Riper (So., Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard-Davidson) collected the rebound from Katie Frohreich’s (So., Baudette, Minn./Lake of the Woods) shot that hit the crossbar and bounced out. Jeanne Chapple (Fr., Vadnais Heights, Minn./Moundsview) had the secondary assist on Van Riper’s goal, which came at 14:48. With seven seconds remaining in the second period, Emma Laaksonen (Fr., Espoo, Finland/Makelanrinteen) and Corinne Rosen (Sr., Milwaukee, Wis./Pomfret) combined for a 2-on-1 in front of the Badger net. Rosen collected the puck from Laaksonen and fired a shot past UofW goalie Jackie MacMillan to tie the game at two going into the second intermission.%^$

%^$Wisconsin outshot Ohio State in the third stanza, 9-8, as both teams were held scoreless.%^$

%^$With 1:56 remaining in the five-minute sudden-victory overtime period, Wisconsin right wing Kendra Antony scored the game-winning goal from Meghan Hunter and Sis Paulsen.%^$

%^$OSU did not convert on five power-play opportunites and held the Badgers scoreless through three opportunities.%^$

%^$U of W outshot OSU, 26-24, and Stojak recorded 23 saves. MacMillan played 63:03 and stopped 22 Buckeye shots.%^$

%^$Ohio State and Wisconsin return to the ice Sunday at 2:05 p.m. EST in the series finale at the Capitol Ice Arena.%^$
