%^$ COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore Mollie Fankhauser (Dublin, Ohio) and former Buckeye Lisa Strom (North Wales, Pa.) each earned a berth in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship after recording top-20 finishes in stroke-play qualifying Tuesday at the par-71 Waverly Country Club in Portland, Ore.%^$

%^$ Fankhauser and Strom each fired a 36-hole score of 149 (+7), finishing in a tie for 20th place in the field, which featured 146 of the top amateur golfers from around the world. Fankhauser fired rounds of 74 and 75, while Strom shot a 72 and 77. The top 64 golfers after stroke play advanced to the match play portion of the tournament.%^$

%^$Both will compete in the first round of match play today. Fankhauser will battle Christina Kim of San Jose, Calif., at 8:10 a.m. PT, while Strom takes on former Duke star Beth Bauer at 9:30 a.m. PT. The winners return for the second round later in the day.
