COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s golf team shot a 617 (+41) Saturday, taking third place after the first two rounds of competition at the Lady Buckeye Fall Invitational, held at the par-72 Scarlet Course in Columbus. The Buckeyes shot a 310 in the first round and then improved with a 307 in the second round. Alabama leads the tournament after two rounds, firing a 27-over 603. Purdue holds second place at 609, six strokes behind the Crimson Tide.

%^$ OSU was paced by Jamie Rishel (So., Westerville, Ohio), who fired a 153 (+9) and stands in 12th place overall. Ashley Lowery (So., West Lafayette, Ind.) notched a 154 and is in a tie for 13th place, while Amber Amstutz (Sr., Leo, Ind.), after firing three birdies on the front nine in the second round to climb back into contention, ended with a 155 and is in a tie for 18th place overall. Natalie Aber (So., Akron, Ohio), in her first competition of the season, is tied with Amstutz for 18th place after shooting a 155, including a career-best 77 in the second round.

%^$ The battle for medalist honors is a good one, as 10 players stand within seven shots of current leader Brittany Straza of Florida, who fired a one-over 145 Saturday, including a two-under 70 in the first round. Alabama’s Sarah Johnston fired a 146 and is one shot back of the lead.
