COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s golf team shot a 313 (+25) in the first day of competition at the NCAA Championships, held at the par-72 El Campeon Golf Course in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Buckeyes hold 21st place after the first of four rounds.

Allison Hanna (Fr., Portland, Ore./David Douglas) led the Buckeyes with a 77 (+5). Natalie Aber (Jr., Akron, Ohio/Springfield) and Ashley Lowery (Jr., West Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) each fired a 78.

Mollie Fankhauser (So., Dublin, Ohio/Cols. School for Girls) notched an 80, while Jennifer Borowiec (Fr., South Lyon, Mich./Mercy) carded an 81.

Oklahoma State was not considered a favorite to win the title, but the Cowgirls lead the competition through one round after posting a 293 (+5), two strokes ahead of UCLA. The competition resumes tomorrow. Ohio State tees off at 11:50 a.m. on the 10th tee.
