COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s golf team fired a 325 Friday in the opening round of the Mercedes-Benz Classic at the par-72 Gettysvue Polo, Golf and Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. The Buckeyes currently stand in 16th place. Georgia leads the competition by three strokes over South Carolina after firing a nine-over par 297.%^$

Mollie Fankhauser (Fr., Dublin, Ohio) paced the Buckeyes Friday with an 80, while seniors Amber Amstutz (Leo, Ind.) and Lisa Strom (North Wales, Pa.) each registered an 82.%^$

The tournament resumes Saturday morning and runs through Sunday.%^$
